Marketing Your Website

Advertise your website everywhere you can. Obviously, search engines are the most important way of doing this, but don't forget the others. Include your website URL on all your correspondence and written advertising material. Email signatures should always mention your URL as well as a brief mission statement about your site.

If you are lucky enough to have a short, memorable web address, then it can also be used in the broadcast media if your budget allows. If you have music on hold on your PABX system then make sure it carries an announcement about your website.

Negotiate hyperlinks with other websites but be sure to include them in some relevant descriptive text. This is also an important search engine positioning technique. The more people that link back to you, the higher your search engine ranking is likely to be. This is of course the very nature of the worldwide web, but don't be tempted to use the many link farms that have been set up, as the search engines are now aware of these and may even disallow entries from their listings!

You of course have the option to pay for other websites to carry adverts for your site. This can be effective, but keep the budget under control as visitors may not always be serious buyers. Targeting is essential and Google run their very effective Adwords campaigns, where you can bid for the keywords used to trigger your own advert and only pay for the actual click throughs that result.

We have successfully used the marketing method used by Advertiser Pro to send almost unlimited visitors to a website. Each visitor is encouraged to view some other sites and then sign up themselves to encourage still more visitors to their site and yours completely free of charge!

Don't forget one of the most obvious but often neglected ways of getting traffic to your website is eBay. They already have the visitors you need, so siphon a few off to visit your site!
